‘Lane’s Late’ navel orange is a popular, high-quality citrus variety known for its sweet, juicy, and seedless fruit that ripens late in the season, extending the orange harvest well into winter and spring. It originated in Australia as a bud sport of the Washington Navel orange in 1954. Late Lane name describes its late maturation, typically producing fruit from July through to October (late winter/early spring in the Southern Hemisphere), several months after other navel varieties have finished. This allows for an extended supply of navel oranges. It is widely praised for its excellent eating qualities, described as sweet, rich, and juicy.
